EXIST Research Transfer: CoraMapsEXIST

Knowing what grows where, across the entire planet, holds enormous potential for a wide range of evaluations and analyses in many areas – not only in the agricultural sector. In agriculture, so-called large-scale crop classification offers, for the first time, the possibility of checking every single field for vitality, yield, damage or cultivation steps without ever having contacted the individual farmer or having been on site. These crop maps are sold directly as a base product to companies and research institutes for further analyses, or supplemented and distributed with proprietary analyses and services for end customers such as commodity traders, (re)insurers or public authorities.

These maps, evaluated information or services provide our customers with a completely new, large-scale data basis for their own services and investment decisions that was previously unavailable. Large-scale agricultural monitoring is therefore of interest to all customers who need very precise information over large areas, up to worldwide information, and thus offers a completely novel added value.

The aim of the project was to build a company and establish it on the market, while carrying out the necessary technical developments. As the basis for today’s CORAmaps GmbH, this project was the foundation and beginning.
